The national anthem of a country is usually a piece of music underlaid with a text, which is intended to express the state or national feeling of the country’s residents. It is usually played on special festive occasions, such as state visits, special holidays or to honor politicians, business leaders, etc. The introduction of the national anthems goes back to the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
The national anthem of Tahiti is the Marseillaise. It was written and set to music by the composer and poet Claude-Joseph Rouget de Lisle (1760-1836) on the night of April 25th to 26th of the year 1792 during the declaration of war on Austria.
